Soccer 101 - Welcome To Community Soccer

Looking for a sport to keep your child physically active and challenging? Consider your Community or associated soccer program. Soccer is the largest participation sport in Calgary and indeed Canada. Following is a guide to help you select the program best suited for your child.

Child born in 2001 or later
Your Community offers a U6 recreation program where a combination of teaching the fundamentals and playing a three-a-side match conducted within your Community boundaries. No play-offs.

Child born in 1999 or later
Your Community offers a U8 recreation program where a combination of teaching the fundamentals and playing a four-a-side match conducted within your Community boundaries. No play-offs.

Child born in 1997 or later
Option 1: Your Community offers a U10 recreation program where a combination of teaching the fundamentals and playing a seven-a-side match which is conducted within your Community or neighbouring Community boundaries. No play-offs.
Option 2: MSB United Soccer offers a U10 development program under the Calgary Minor Soccer Association where a separate practice within your Community and seven-a-side match within the City of Calgary. No play-offs.

Child born in 1995 or later
Option 1: Your Community may offer a U12 recreation program where a combination of teaching the fundamentals and playing an eleven-a-side match is conducted within your Community or neighbouring Community boundaries. No play-offs.
Option 2: MSB United Soccer offers a U12 competitive program under the Calgary Minor Soccer Association where a separate practice within your Community and an eleven-a-side match within the City of Calgary. Play-offs for spot to compete against Edmonton.
Option 3: NWU Soccer offers a U12 premier program under the Calgary Minor Soccer Association where a separate practice within your Community and an eleven-a-side match within the City of Calgary. Play-offs for spot to compete against Alberta.

Child born in 1993 or later
Option 1: Your Community may offer a U14 recreation program where a combination of teaching the fundamentals and playing an eleven-a-side match is conducted within your Community or neighbouring Community boundaries. No play-offs.
Option 2: MSB United Soccer offers a U14 competitive program under the Calgary Minor Soccer Association where a separate practice within your Community and an eleven-a-side match within the City of Calgary. Play-offs for spot to compete against Edmonton.
Option 3: NWU Soccer offers a U14 premier program under the Calgary Minor Soccer Association where a separate practice within your Community and an eleven-a-side match within the City of Calgary. Play-offs for spot to compete against Alberta.

Option 2: NWU Soccer offers a U18 premier program under the Calgary Minor Soccer Association where a separate practice within your Community and an eleven-a-side match within the City of Calgary. Play-offs for spot to compete against Alberta.
