The SBC (Shaganappi/Beddington/Country Hills) Widening Project
The City is planning to widen sections of Shaganappi Trail, Beddington Trail, and Country Hills Boulevard to accommodate future traffic growth in the northwest portion of the city. This will be accomplished in six phases (see map below).
The City has planned a series of open houses and community meetings. The first of these meetings took place in October and November where City staff presented proposed designs for the roadway and provided information on local issues such as sound attenuation and traffic counts. Public input will be collected at all these meetings and will be used to identify issues and adjust plans where necessary.
Currently, preliminary detailed designs are being drafted and a sound study is being completed. Open houses in early 2006 will be held to give the public an opportunity to comment on the designs and see results of the sound study. Look for advertisements in your community newsletter and outdoor signs for upcoming open houses and community meetings. Those directly adjacent to the roadways will be contacted by direct mail and informed of the future meetings and results of the sound study.
A newsletter will also go out in mid-January with more information on public consultation, sound attenuation and the project design. Full details will be presented in the new year.
